Cold Applied Roof

Cold applied is an application process using special adhesive to adhere roofing membranes onto the substrate (roof deck). This type of installation is preferred where building owners or local building authority does not permit the use of fire on the roof.

1 ply system from Firestone Building Products is EPDM/TPO. Extremely durable synthetic rubber. It comes in black or white color. This material can be installed by either using fully adhere method, mechanically attached or ballasted. If this system is installed correctly, it can last up to 30 years.

below is an example of the EPDM job that our team did recently.

IKO offers a 2 or 3 plies system where special formulated adhesive will be used to adhere base ply as well as cap ply onto the substrate. Materials for this system is the Modiflex Linecold applied roof

“TOUGH, LONG-LASTING CONSTRUCTION Modiflex are made from a strong mat (fibreglass or reinforced polyester) which is coated with SBS modified bitumen. Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) is a rubber-based chemical that endows the asphalt with some amazing qualities: superior elasticity, excellent moisture resistance, and exceptional cold weather flexibility. The end result is a long-lasting, durable membrane which can be applied to a wide variety of surfaces on roofs of almost any shape or design.”
